  17. <p>    On the set, director Jean-Jacques Annaud (Quest for Fire)
  18. didn't exactly do lunch with his leading, er, bear. On one
  19. occasion, he nearly was lunch for Bart, a 2,000-lb. Kodiak that
  20. wanted to be left alone. Annaud followed Bart and some other
  21. temperamental ursines around for nine months to film The Bear,
  22. a $25 million feature flick about the relationship between a
  23. solitary bear and an orphaned cub. The movie has already
  24. subjected Europe and Japan to a barrage of bear-mania. It opens
  25. next month in the U.S. Certainly gives you paws.
