- <p> On the set, director Jean-Jacques Annaud (Quest for Fire)
- didn't exactly do lunch with his leading, er, bear. On one
- occasion, he nearly was lunch for Bart, a 2,000-lb. Kodiak that
- wanted to be left alone. Annaud followed Bart and some other
- temperamental ursines around for nine months to film The Bear,
- a $25 million feature flick about the relationship between a
- solitary bear and an orphaned cub. The movie has already
- subjected Europe and Japan to a barrage of bear-mania. It opens
- next month in the U.S. Certainly gives you paws.
